Things have been a whirlwind for L's Art lately.
I finally committed to doing art full time part time. Meaning? I am now working an office job part time and committing the other half of my days and nights to art and teaching. Which is both amazing and terrifying.
It feels a little crazy honestly, when I was a kid the first career I ever wanted was to be an artist; then society told me to be happy I needed money, so I did that. Being twenty-five years old now, it maybe ambitious (or selfish) for me to say I want both. The only issue is, a career in art does not always entail lots of money. Hence the office job too.
Ask me in another six months if it is still my dream, ha.
I am working at ANOTHER studio. I now work at both 'Stache Studio in Griffin, GA, Britt David Cultural Arts Studio in Columbus, GA and now Indy Riot Studios in Thomaston, GA. Here I am heading up both adult painting classes and kids workshops. See my previous blog: Indy Riot Studios for further information on that venture. Also check out the calendar page with my schedule there.
Oh and hey - don't forget ladies and gents - I do private parties and commissions, too. You want a "Painting Party" shoot me an email!
Benefit for Team Clifford and Team Allie
Saturday, August 15 at 10:00 am located at 1025 S Hill Street, Griffin, GA I will be selling art at a booth in support of a family that recently suffered a severe tragedy: losing two children.
"Clifford and Allie were in a tragic car accident and gained they're angel wings July 10th 2015. Their mom and dad need help with expenses. They will miss work and all of their everyday expenses will continue as well as the need for therapy, because none of us are ever prepared to bury your child...especially not 2 at the same time. Your donations are greatly appreciated."
I cannot imagine what this family is going through. Please come to this benefit in Griffin, GA on Saturday, August 15th, 2015 at the Kiwanis Fairground; both myself and Indy Riot Studios will have items on sale as means to raise money for the family.
Prayers, support and donations appreciated.
Art in the Park
Saturday, September 26th 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.at the Greatest Generation Memorial Park off N Church Street in Thomaston, GA. This event will be held in conjunction with the Boss Hog BBQ Contest sponsored by the City Of Thomaston Downtown Action Committee. Tons of local artist and festivities - I would love if you would come out and see me! Meet my new partners in crime, the Indy Riot Crew. And hey, purchasing some art would be great too.
I have recently submitted a portfolio of my work for review with an art organization that does international work. So we will see where that goes. Fingers crossed for good things there!
I have been trying to stir up business in Columbus too - you know the town I live in but am never in. Plastering flyers everywhere and calling businesses. Have a few tentative leads - I will keep you posted if things develop there.
Another mural may also be in the works.
In short, I have A LOT going on. I am excited.
